HCP secured the contract to complete 1,200 square metres of Reinforced Earth (RE) Panels for the Haywards Interchange Project. The RE Panels were for construction of the bridge abutments. This was a project with particularly tight time frames. Production of the RE Panels was completed over a three-month period from February to April 2016. HCP met all time constraints well in advance. HCP met strict tolerances for each panel which were inspected daily by engineers before sign off on stringent quality control. The RE Panels were of a high quality. Don Ashby-Palmer, Engineering Manager at Reinforced Earth said in a site report “the precast has an excellent finish, sides are square and overall excellent work.”

Dews Construction won the tender to do the Walter Nash outdoor upgrade which included precast skate park blocks. The blocks were to serve as both
functional (a seat) and recreational (cast with steel edges so that skaters could use). The layout meant that there were very high tolerances for casting
the blocks given tight fit in desired area. HCP manufactured a very high finish in product fitting all tolerances. The blocks were installed except for the final
block which required a site measure and specially made mould to fit the remaining area. Dews Construction won a construction award for the project with a special mention to HCP for the skate blocks.

Greater Wellington Regional Council approached HCP to make a precast platform and steps for better access to the top of the Birchville Dam, where Dam management and control takes place. There were weight restraints for the platform and steps because they would have to be helicoptered in. This project is an illustration of the complete design and build process HCP can do for customers. HCP designed and manufactured the platform and steps in three parts to meet the weight constraints, small location for installation and to fit alongside existing dam, which was on a radius. HCP had to take into consideration how the structure was to be put together after it was transported by the helicopter. The project went according to plan and the custom built platform and steps are well fitted on top of the Dam.

We worked with the Greater Wellington Reginal Council in manufacturing a walking bridge beam. This was replacing an older bridge that had failed. The Bridge Beam was 15 meters in length and weighed in excess of 12 Tonne.
